3 Illegal Immigrants Charged With Running NorCal Brothels
SACRAMENTO (CBS/AP) -- Federal authorities say three illegal immigrants have been charged with operating five Central Valley brothels that used other illegal immigrants as prostitutes.
Officials say 35-year-old Roberto Urbina-Gonzalez, 43-year-old Everardo Ibarra Regalado and 25-year-old Corina Dominguez were arrested Jan. 17 and arraigned Friday in federal court in Sacramento. They pleaded not guilty.
According to court papers, the prostitutes ranged from 18 to 25 and were rotated weekly among brothels in Chico, Fairfield, Sacramento, Stockton and Yuba City.
Officials say most of the women are from Mexico, but some were recruited from El Salvador, Honduras and Colombia. The defendants advertised the brothels by handing out business cards at Central Valley flea markets and other locations.
The investigation into the "human trafficking organization" began 2 1/2 years ago when an informant approached Stockton police.
