3 Charged In Killing After San Francisco Bus Fight
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS/AP) - A federal grand jury has indicted three suspected gang members in the fatal shooting of a man after an altercation on a San Francisco Muni bus.
Davie Jimmy Mejia-Sensente, Carlos Mejia-Quintanilla and Luis Amilar-Zanas face murder, racketeering and weapons charges in the indictment handed down Tuesday.
Authorities said 26-year-old Alexander Castanon was shot in the head on June 21 just after getting off the bus at a Daly City stop near his home.
Authorities suspected that the defendants were members of Mara Salvatrucha, or MS-13, a gang made up mostly of immigrants from El Salvador. Castanon was not a gang member.
If convicted of the murder charge, they could face life in prison or the death penalty.
