3 Arrested On Drug, Gun Charges During Santa Rosa Warrant Search

SANTA ROSA (CBS SF) -- Three men were arrested and drugs and guns were seized when authorities served a search warrant at a Santa Rosa home early Sunday morning, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office.

The search warrant was obtained after detectives received a tip that 28-year-old Edward Alexis Martinez was selling drugs and firearms out of his house in the 900 block of Leddy Avenue, sheriff's officials said.

Martinez was out on bail after being arrested on drug charges in November, and had missed a court date on Jan. 27, according to the sheriff's office.

The warrant was served at about 6:20 a.m. Sunday by the sheriff's property crimes detective unit with the assistance of a SWAT team.

Eight people were initially detained, and detectives found Martinez with methamphetamine on him, and located an AK-47 assault rifle at the home that they linked to him, sheriff's officials said.

During the search, the SWAT team dealt with three aggressive pit bulls that were eventually handed over to Sonoma County Animal Care and Control, according to the sheriff's office.

Martinez, who investigators say has gang affiliations, was arrested on suspicion of delaying or resisting arrest, being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of methamphetamine and possession of an assault weapon.

He initially refused to come out of the house but was eventually taken into custody, sheriff's investigators said.

Detectives also arrested Flex John Miller Jr., 25, of Santa Rosa, for delaying or resisting arrest, and Nicholas Brian Hoffman, 25, of Healdsburg, who was wanted on two felony arrest warrants.

The three men were booked into county jail. Martinez was being held on $200,000 bail, Miller's bail was set at $2,500, and Hoffman was booked without bail because of his warrants.
