3 Arrested In Santa Cruz County Pot Bust
FELTON (BCN) -- Santa Cruz County sheriff's detectives seized more than 250 marijuana plants and made three arrests while serving a search warrant at a home in Felton on Wednesday, sheriff's officials said.
Operating on a tip about drug activity in the area, detectives arrived at 138 Felton Empire Road and found a commercial marijuana growing operation on the property, according to the sheriff's office.
Three people were arrested at the scene, and were identified as 40-year-old Rachel McGuire, 51-year-old Lonnie Geist and 28-year-old Kelly Hawkins.
McGuire and Geist were under the influence of methamphetamine and both were on probation for related crimes, according to the sheriff's office.
McGuire was in possession of someone else's credit card and Geist was in possession of a billy club, sheriff's officials said.
Hawkins was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and released.
The house was well known to the sheriff's office and has been the subject of numerous complaints about criminal activity over the years, sheriff's officials said.
The case is still under investigation.
