3-Alarm Fire Damages San Mateo Condo Building
SAN MATEO (CBS SF) -- Firefighters in San Mateo were able to douse a three-alarm blaze of a structure early Monday morning, San Mateo County fire officials said.
Crews responded to a report of a fire in the 2200 block of Bridgepointe Parkway just before 1 a.m., officials said.
The fire escalated quickly to a second and third alarm, but crews were able to douse it after more than an hour, according to officials.
It was deemed under control about 2:25 a.m., officials said.
Seven to 10 residents of six apartments on three different floors were displaced by the overnight fire, although none of the units were destroyed. The Red Cross has temporarily placed them in hotels.
San Mateo Fire Battalion Chief Jim Scott said the fire may have started in an aluminum laundry dryer vent.

Scott said there were no signs of smoke and fire from outside, but that there was plenty of smoke and fire inside of a unit on the second floor.
