3 Accused Of Kidnapping, Robbery, Attempted Murder In Gilroy
GILROY (BCN) -- Three people were arrested this week on suspicion of manipulating and robbing two Gilroy residents before tying them up and pushing them off a 15-foot bridge, police said Wednesday.
The suspects—two women and a man—are facing kidnapping, robbery and attempted murder charges.
Detectives said a woman identified as Catrina Cameron, 21, befriended two Gilroy residents over the weekend. On Monday, she allegedly lured them to her apartment in the 8800 block of Lilly Avenue.
There, Cameron, along with two other people whom police identified as 23-year-old Tamaya Duenas and 22-year-old Nathaniel Garcia, allegedly confronted the victims with knives and a gun, police officials said.
They allegedly attacked the victims, robbed them of their personal belongings and took them to a nearby ATM, where they withdrew money from the victims' bank accounts, according to police.
Afterward, they took the victims to Sprig Lake, bound and blindfolded them, and pushed them off a 15-foot bridge, police officials said.
The victims suffered significant injuries but are expected to survive, according to police.
After the crime was reported to police Monday night, officers served a search warrant at the home of Cameron and Duenas. They were accompanied by a regional SWAT team and allegedly found evidence connecting the suspects to the crime.
Cameron, Duenas and Garcia were arrested and booked into Santa Clara County jail.
