3.2 Magnitude Earthquake Shakes Santa Clara County

SAN JOSE (BCN) -- The U.S. Geological Survey reported an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.2 struck Wednesday night in Santa Clara County.

According to the USGS, the quake shook an area of the east foothills just south of Joseph D. Grant State Park at 10:28 p.m.

The quake had a depth of 4.2 miles and an epicenter located 12 miles east-southeast from San Jose City Hall, according to the USGS.

An aftershock with a preliminary magnitude of 2.2 and a depth of 3.9 miles struck in approximately the same spot at 11:37 p.m.
