2nd Naked Super Bowl Ad Released On Youtube: Mindy Kaling Sunbathes Nude For Nationwide
(CBS SF) -- In the second 2014 Super Bowl commercial featuring public nudity to be released on Youtube before the February 1st game, Nationwide Insurance features a naked Mindy Kaling of The Mindy Project sunbathing in a public park.
The latest ad comes on the heels of Carl's Jr.'s all-natural burger add, featuring a buxom blond wandering seemingly naked through a farmers' market, touting the wonders of going au naturel.
CARL'S JR. AD: Is this too racy for national TV?
The Mindy ad is far less prurient, featuring only an incredibly short shot of the naked 35 year old's back while she lays out in a public park.
The premise is pure Mindy, and not sexually charged like Carl's typical burger ad. It imagines that Mindy has lived life feeling like she's invisible, and thinks maybe she really is invisible, and thus lives life (for 30 seconds) like that. Not a hard sell for the insurance, but a good video clip to get people talking. Case in point.
Ironically, while all these depictions of public nudity will be beamed into 100 million homes, back in San Francisco, the most famous nudist in the nation, Gypsy Taub, is holding a real naked rally fighting for her right to be nude in the city.
She tells CBS SF that she wasn't thinking about the Super Bowl when she scheduled her naked protest, but it's too late now to change it. Perhaps the nude activists can DVR the ads and enjoy the national display of public nudity later.
