2 Found Dead In Concord Home; Possible Murder-Suicide

CONCORD (CBS SF) - Police were investigating the deaths of two people found inside a home in Concord on Monday night as a possible murder-suicide, Lt. Brandon Richey said.

Officers responded to a home in the 2300 block of Bedford Road at about 8:30 p.m. after receiving a distress call.

When officers arrived, they found two people lying motionless on the floor inside the house, Richey said.

They were pronounced dead at the scene and identified as Frederik Meurer and Miranda Pretoli, both 32-year-old Concord residents.

Richey said it appears they died of gunshot wounds.

Investigators believe the couple lived together, and are investigating their deaths as a possible murder-suicide.

Autopsies are scheduled for later this week to determine an official cause of death, but Richey said that so far, investigators do not believe there was a third party involved.

The investigation comes just one day after Concord police responded to an unrelated homicide at a Concord shopping center.

Officers arrested 19-year-old Joshua Cardone on Sunday, who is suspected of fatally stabbing Richard Gilliam, 20, during a dispute in the parking lot of a shopping center at 5450 Ygnacio Valley Road.

Police were called at about 4:20 p.m. When they arrived, they found Gilliam in the parking lot with at least one stab wound. He was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Cardone remained at the scene, and witnesses identified him as the person who had stabbed Gilliam, police said.

He was arrested and booked into county jail, where he is being held in lieu of $1 million bail.

Anyone with information regarding either incident is asked to call Detective Greg Pardella at (925) 603-5922 or Detective David Ishikawa at (925) 603-5864. People who wish to remain anonymous can call the Concord Police Department tip line at (925) 603-5863.
