2 Teens Arrested In Connection With Hayward Murder
HAYWARD (CBS SF) -- Two teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of murder for the fatal shooting of a 17-year-old boy in Hayward's Centennial Park earlier this week.
Investigators tracked the suspects—a 16-year-old and 17-year-old from Hayward—to Modesto, where they were arrested on Tuesday, police said.
One of the teens complained of nausea and was taken to a hospital before both were booked into Juvenile Hall in San Leandro, police said.
The suspects' names are being withheld because of their age.
Police said officers responded to reports of shots fired at Centennial Park, located in the 24000 block of Amador Street, around 3:30 p.m. Monday.
Officers arrived to find the victim near the park's baseball diamond. He was taken to a hospital, were he died from his injuries a short time later, according to police. The victim's name has not yet been released.
Police Sgt. Mark Ormsby said a motive for the killing has not been determined and the investigation was ongoing.
