2 Suspicious Fires Among 3 Reported In San Jose Overnight
SAN JOSE (CBS SF)— San Jose firefighters responded to three fires overnight, two of which have been deemed suspicious, fire officials said.
The first fire, reported at 12:01 a.m. started in a kitchen at a home at 7155 Martwood Way and was under control by 12:47 a.m. officials said.
Three residents were displaced and the Red Cross was called in to assist with temporary housing according to fire officials. That fire is not believed to be suspicious.
Within 30 minutes a second and third fire broke out at two fourplexes about a block apart, fire officials said. In these instances, both fires are being investigated as arson, officials said.

At 12:19 a.m. a trashcan was reported on fire at 5492 Spinnaker Walkway, fire officials said.
The fire in the garbage can was threatening a fourplex and a nearby fence, but firefighters had that blaze under control at 1:05 a.m.
Four residents were displaced from the building and were working with the Red Cross.
The third fire reported at 12:30 a.m. at 202 Coy Drive, again involved a trashcan on fire under a gas meter, fire officials said.
When fire crews arrived they found a broken gas line, but managed to control it by1 a.m.
This time residents didn't fare as well with as many as three separate families displaced from that fourplex. 13 people were working with the Red Cross to find housing.
Debbie, who lives near one of the affected buildings, said a similar trash fire broke out last Tuesday. She hopes for a thorough investigation.
"When we told them about it, they were like, 'Oh, it's just kids lighting a trashcan'. I'm like no, because the trash cans are 30 feet over there, to go out for the day. They actually moved it and lit it. That's' a little scary," she said.
No one was injured in any of the fires, officials said.
