The suspects entered the 7-Eleven at 196 San Mateo Road at about 12:15 p.m. Monday, San Mateo sheriff's Dep. Rebecca Rosenblatt said.
One suspect went to the register to ask the cashier about lottery tickets while the other suspect went to the rear office to take a bag of cash, Rosenblatt said.
The suspects left the store with a bag containing just under $7,582, Rosenblatt said.
The theft was discovered and reported hours later, she said.
