2 Posing As Utility Workers Burglarize Home Near Woodside
WOODSIDE (BCN) -- Two people burglarized a home in unincorporated Woodside Friday afternoon after posing as utility workers assessing damage caused by recent storms, a San Mateo County sheriff's sergeant said.
The burglary was reported around 2 p.m. at a home in unincorporated Woodside, a sheriff's dispatcher said. The exact location of the home was not immediately available.
The homeowner was apparently distracted by one of the suspects while a second suspect entered the home and stole valuables, sheriff's Sgt. Joe Sheridan said.
The suspects fled and had not been arrested as of late Friday afternoon.
Sheriff's officials are encouraging residents to be alert and ask for identification from people contacting them and claiming to be utility workers.
Anyone who has had similar experiences in the area is encouraged to contact the sheriff's dispatch line at (650) 363-4911.
