2 Oakland Men Arrested After Allegedly Trying To Break Into San Mateo Home
SAN MATEO (CBS SF) -- Two Oakland residents were arrested in San Mateo Thursday morning after a resident spotted a man trying to break in through a locked front door, police said.
The resident was at his home in the 1400 block of Hemlock Avenue when he heard someone knocking on his front door around 6:15 a.m., according to police.
Within a few seconds, the victim heard someone trying to open the locked front door, and when he looked out through a window he saw a man trying to enter, police said.
The victim yelled at the man and asked him what he was doing, and the man ran away.
Officers arriving in the area a few minutes later spotted two men walking away from the victim's house, one of whom matched the description given to police by the victim.
Police arrested Oakland residents Alphonso Jones, 19, and Leon Watson, 18, on suspicion of attempted residential burglary. Both were later booked into San Mateo County jail.
