2 Motorcyclists Hurt In Separate Marin County Crashes
SAN RAFAEL (CBS SF) -- Two motorcyclists were injured in crashes in Marin County on Saturday, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The first collision occurred around 1:05 p.m. Saturday on northbound state Highway 1 just north of the Panoramic Highway in unincorporated Marin County, according to the CHP.
A 50-year-old San Francisco woman was driving her Acura sedan northbound on the roadway while a 47-year-old Moss Beach woman rode a Honda motorcycle south along Highway 1.
While coming around a curve in the roadway, the motorcyclist lost control of the motorcycle and was thrown from the vehicle, which continued traveling into oncoming traffic where it struck the Acura, according to the CHP.
The motorcyclist was taken to Kaiser Permanente San Rafael Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries. The driver was uninjured.
A second motorcycle crash was reported around 6:20 p.m. on Panoramic Highway west of Edgewood Avenue in Mill Valley, according to the CHP. A 66-year-old Mill Valley man was driving a Toyota sports car westbound on Panoramic Highway and attempted to make a U-turn after pulling over into a curved area alongside the roadway.
As he began to make the U-turn, a 24-year-old motorcyclist from Mill Valley rounded a curve in the roadway and unable to stop, struck the Toyota's driver side, according to the CHP.
The motorcyclist was ejected onto the hood of the car but only complained of minor injuries and declined medical transportation. The driver did not report any injuries.
