2 More Arrests In Death Of San Jose State Student Hit By Stray Bullet
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - Two additional suspects have been arrested in the Aug. 3 shooting death of a woman who was hit by a stray bullet while riding in a car in downtown San Jose, a police spokesman said today.
Caris Warren, 22, and Jessie Grant, 23, both of San Jose, were arrested on suspicion of murder for the death of Kimberly Joyce Chico, 19, a student at San Jose State University, police Lt. Jason Dwyer said.
The pair's arrest followed the Aug. 7 arrest of a third suspect in the case, Johnny Lozano, 23, of San Jose. Lozano was also arrested on suspicion of murder.
Chico was inside a car driven by another person in the area of Third Street and East San Salvador Street when she was shot at about 1:20 a.m. on Aug. 3, Dwyer said.
The victim, who was not involved in the incident that prompted the shooting and had no link to the suspects, was not the intended target, Dwyer said.
An officer from the San Jose Police Department's Gang Suppression Unit arrested Lozano in San Jose on Aug. 7, Dwyer said.
Homicide detectives from the department's Covert Response Unit later located Warren and Grant and took them into custody.
