2 Men Hurt In Oakland Shooting Near Schools
OAKLAND (CBS 5) -- Two men were injured in a shooting in Oakland Tuesday morning, police said.
The shooting happened at Seminary Avenue and East 17th Street, according to Officer Holly Joshi, but one of the victims drove himself to the intersection of 28th Avenue and International Boulevard -- where officers arrived about 8:15 a.m.
Fernando Gonzalez, owner of nearby F& G Auto Repair, said he heard screaming and saw a man with blood on his face being loaded into an ambulance at the intersection.
The injuries the men suffered were not life-threatening, Joshi said.
Two schools near the intersection, Think College Now Elementary School and International Community School, were on lockdown until 9:30 a.m., ICS secretary Norma Lupian said.
The shooting happened around the time parents were dropping their children off at the schools, she said.
Oakland police said their investion into the shooting had not yet determined if it was gang-related.
