2 Hospitalized After Golden Gate Park Stabbing
SAN FRANCISCO (KCBS) – A man and woman were stabbed in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park early Wednesday morning, near the Haight Ashbury neighborhood.
San Francisco police said the stabbings occurred near the intersection of Stanyan and Haight streets about 2:30 a.m. Officers responded to the scene and found a man and woman suffering from stab wounds.

Police said the woman, possibly in her 40's, was stabbed in the chest. She was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. Police said the man, believed to be in his 20s or 30s, was stabbed in the abdomen. He was also transported to San Francisco General with life-threatening injuries.
Police are searching for two suspects who they said were last seen heading northbound on Stanyan Street in a maroon vehicle. One of the suspects is described as a heavy-set African American male with dreadlocks; the other, an African American male wearing a white hooded sweatshirt.
San Francisco police said they have dramatically increased patrols in the area to deal with "quality of life" issues and many residents said they avoid the park at night.
Andy Mott has lived in the area for 12 years and said solo woman and the elderly need to be street savvy in the area.
"Come with a friend or take buses. Stay on the well-lit side of the street," said Mott. "I wouldn't be walking at the mouth of the park where Haight is after dark."
Greg Corrales, Captain of the Park Station, which is in sight of Golden Gate Park, said his district actually has a low violent crime rate compared to other parts of the city. But he does admit there are quality of life issues.
"Homelessness, drinking in public, sleeping in doorways, trespassing, that sort of thing," said Corrales.
In the last six months, the number of patrols has gone from two to eight.
"We have quadrupled the number of our beat officers out there," Corrales said. "It's one of the basics of community policing. To have the same officers working the same area."
