2 Detained After Fleeing I-80 Crash Scene In Vallejo
VALLEJO (CBS SF) -- A man and woman have been detained by police after fleeing the scene of a crash on Interstate 80 in Vallejo Sunday, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
The pair was driving an SUV on eastbound I-80 when witnesses said the vehicle crossed several lanes of traffic and crashed into a group of trees on the right shoulder at about 11:15 a.m., CHP Officer Eric Anderson said.
The vehicle overturned, and the pair was seen getting out of the vehicle and fleeing onto city streets near Admiral Callaghan Lane, Anderson said.
No other vehicles appeared to have been involved.
Vallejo police responded and located the pair about a mile away from the scene of the crash, he said.
The two were being questioned this afternoon.
Caltrans was responding to clear fallen trees and debris from the roadway.
The incident remains under investigation.
