2 Businesses Searched In South SF Illegal Gambling Investigation
SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) -- Police served search warrants at two businesses as part of an investigation into illegal gambling in South San Francisco on Wednesday morning, police said.
Shortly after 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, South San Francisco police and several other San Mateo County law enforcement agencies served two search warrants at businesses located in the 2200 block of Gellert Boulevard and in the unit block of South Linden Avenue, police said.
The searches, which followed months of investigation into the businesses and business owners, revealed evidence of illegal gambling, police said.
The search resulted in the seizure of nearly $40,000 in cash, police said.
According to police, multiple gambling devices and documentation related to the illegal gambling operation were also recovered in the search.
Police also searched the business owners' residences in Pacifica and Alameda.
At the residence in Pacifica, police arrested business owner Frederick Zupancic, 53, who was booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of possession of a stolen firearm, according to police.
