2 Bay Area Theme Parks To Hire Thousands For Upcoming Season
VALLEJO (KCBS) - Nearly 3,000 jobs will open at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo and Great America in Santa Clara over the coming months as both start hiring this weekend for the season that begins in March.
Six Flags Discovery Kingdom expects to bring on 1,400 workers over the course of the season, said spokeswoman Nancy Chan, starting with about 600 positions to be filled during a job fair this weekend.
"We have a lot of people that are different ages from seniors to people that have been in the workforce before, perhaps a second job or moms back in the workplace," she said.

The excitement has also been building in Santa Clara where, not to be outdone, Great America plans to hire about 2,500 people for an assortment of positions.
"It ranges from character actors to theater attendants to performs, ride operators, life guards, ticket attendants," said spokesman Roger Ross.
"It's a lot of people. We actually are the fifth largest employer in Santa Clara."
Great America is now accepting applications online for many positions, with a casting call for entertainers and event technicians planned for February 4-17, according to its website.
Chan said the Six Flags Discovery Kingdom job fair will take place Saturday in Fairfield on January 26.
