Argument Ends In Shooting In San Francisco's Mission District

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) -- Police are searching for the suspects in an alleged gang shooting that happened early Thursday morning in the city's Mission District.

Officers responded to a shooting at the corner of South Van Ness Avenue and 26th Street just before 1 a.m., where they found a 23-year-old man shot three times, police said.

The man was hospitalized and is expected to survive.

According to police, the victim had gotten into a verbal argument with two suspects.  One of the suspects pulled out a gun and shot him.

The shooting is being investigated by the Police Department's gang task force.

The suspects and the victim are thought to be members of the Norteno street gang, which operates in the area, according to police.

The city attorney's office in 2007 secured a civil injunction against the Norteno gang in that neighborhood.
