2 Arrested In Oakland Road Rage Shooting Over Cellphone Video
OAKLAND (CBS SF) - Two people were arrested in Oakland Monday afternoon after a bizarre road rage confrontation and shooting over a cellphone video of a reckless driver, according to police.
Oakland Police spokeswoman Johnna Watson said a couple driving in a car noticed a man driving recklessly and the husband, who was the passenger, began recording him on a cellphone.
The other driver realized he was being recorded and pulled up next to the couple at a stop and demanded the cell phone, according to Watson.
Both were reportedly carrying guns. One of the gunmen then got into the victims' car and tried to pry the cellphone away, but the husband managed to punch and kick him out of the car as his wife drove away - not before the gunman fired at least one shot, Watson said.
No one was hit but at least one bullet hit the couple's car, according to Watson.
After the victims alerted police and showed them the video , officers found the suspect vehicle near 73rd and International and gave chase, eventually losing the suspects because they were driving too fast, said Watson.
Later that afternoon, officers found and arrested the suspects on the 1200 block of Seminary Ave. They were identified as 21-year-old James Crosby and 39-year-old Michael Meadows, both of Oakland.
Watson said the men would be charged with attempted robbery, brandishing a weapon and reckless driving.
