2 Arrested After Police Chase Ending In Walnut Creek Crash
WALNUT CREEK (CBS SF) -- Authorities arrested two men following a pursuit from San Lorenzo that ended with a car crash in Walnut Creek on Wednesday night, an Alameda County sheriff's spokesman said Thursday.
Shortly before 10 p.m., deputies in the area of Hesperian Boulevard and Grant Avenue attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle, sheriff's Sgt. J.D. Nelson said.
Nelson said the vehicle's driver failed to yield to the deputies and led them on a chase into Dublin and then onto Interstate Highway 680.
At that point, Nelson said the deputies stopped pursuing the car and California Highway Patrol officers picked up the chase.
The officers followed the car into Walnut Creek, where it crashed. The two men inside the car were then arrested on suspicion of evading law enforcement officers and for outstanding warrants, Nelson said.
The CHP officers also found items in the car reported stolen from prior burglaries, and Nelson said detectives are still trying to determine the suspects' involvement in those alleged crimes.
Nelson said he didn't have information on where or when the burglaries occurred.
As of Thursday afternoon, Nelson said the names of the two men arrested are not being released because detectives were still investigating their possible involvement in other crimes.
