2 Arrested After Leading Sheriffs On High-Speed Chase Through Oakland, San Leandro
OAKLAND (CBS SF) -- Two men were taken into custody early Sunday morning after leading Alameda County Sheriffs on a high-speed chase through the streets of San Leandro and Oakland, according to officials from the Alameda County Sheriff's office.
Sheriff's deputies attempted to stop a 1972 Cadillac that was traveling at highway speeds through a residential neighborhood near the corner of 159th Avenue and Mateo Street in San Leandro, said Sgt. J. D. Nelson.
The car fled, leading police on a high-speed chase through San Leandro, onto Interstate Highway 580, and into Oakland where the suspects crashed into a parked car near the corner of 50th Avenue and Ygnacio Avenue.
Three men exited the car and attempted to flee on foot, but police captured two of them. They were briefly taken to Highland General Hospital and later booked into Santa Rita Jail.
Nelson said the two men will be charged with reckless driving, resisting arrest, and potentially other charges.
