2-Alarm Fire Destroys San Jose Pot Club
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - A fire in San Jose Friday morning left four people displaced and a cannabis dispensary completely destroyed, a fire captain said.
The blaze started at 450 Drake St. at the cannabis dispensary Herb Appeal, fire Capt. Debbie Ward said.
Firefighters responded around 2:50 a.m. but the flames had completely engulfed the house, causing an estimated half million dollars in damage, Ward said.
KCBS' Matt Bigler Reports:
"It's completely gone," she said. "It has to be demolished."
The blaze then spread to the residential house next door at 452 Drake St.
"The fire spread to the attic and made the house uninhabitable," Ward said.
Three adults and one child were displaced from their home. The residents found a place to stay temporarily, she said.
The fire caused an estimated $50,000 in damage to the structure of the house and about $10,000 in damage to contents of the home.
The flames were knocked down by 3:34 a.m. and no one was injured in the blaze, Ward said.
It was the second fire at the Herb Appeal dispensary this year. In January, a two-alarm blaze started in the porch area and spread into the attic, San Jose fire Capt. Debbie Ward said.
