2-Alarm Fire On San Bruno Mountain Controlled
BRISBANE (CBS SF) -- Fire crews were able to control a fire that started on San Bruno Mountain in Brisbane and spread to the other side of Highway 101 Thursday afternoon, according to authorities.
San Mateo Fire officials confirmed that the fire was first reported at 3:39 p.m. Only minutes later at 3:44 p.m., a second alarm was called.
The fire is burning behind business buildings off of Highway 101 before apparently jumping the freeway. Traffic was slow through the area on 101 with at least one southbound lane blocked by fire engines.
As of about 4:30 p.m., fire fighters seemed to have the fire under control, though there was still some smoke rising from brush near the freeway.
The fire also affected traffic on Bayshore Boulevard.
Fire crews from Brisbane and South San Francisco responded to the fire.
