2.1 Earthquake Shakes San Jose In Same Spot As Earlier Quake

SAN JOSE (BCN) -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 2.1 struck east of San Jose Saturday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The quake was reported at 7:59 a.m., was centered 7 miles east-southeast of Milpitas and 8 miles northeast of San Jose City Hall, and had a depth of 1.3 miles, according to the USGS.

The temblor struck in an area just northwest of where a 4.1-magnitude earthquake shook the Bay Area Friday afternoon.

That quake, reported at 4:10 p.m., could be felt as far north as San Francisco, and was followed by a few aftershocks, including one with a magnitude of 2.6, the USGS said.
