19-Year-Old Charged In Alameda Stolen Dog Case
ALAMEDA (AP) - A teenager has been charged with receiving stolen property in connection with the theft of a Yorkshire terrier snatched from an 80-year-old woman walking down a Northern California street.
Prosecutor Mark McCannon said Monday that 19-year-old Christopher Perkins, who has previous drug convictions, also had his probation revoked.
Two men robbed Helen Bignone of her purse and the 6-year-old dog on Oct. 30 in Alameda. Perkins is believed to have released the dog in a Stockton park three days later and a woman bought him for $20.
The San Francisco Chronicle said the woman saw a news report on the theft and contacted authorities, who reunited Bignone with the dog last week.
Police were still searching for the second suspect.
