Man Threatening To Jump From 101 In SF Talked Down By Police
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - A person threatening to jump from northbound U.S. Highway 101 onto San Francisco city streets Monday afternoon has been talked down and taken into custody, a California Highway Patrol officer said.
CHP received a report at 1:23 p.m. of a person running across the highway just past the Vermont Street exit near the Highway 101 and Interstate 80 split, CHP officer Michael Ferguson said.
Officers arrived at the scene at about 1:30 p.m. and found the person threatening to jump.
CHP requested a San Francisco police negotiator to speak with the person, Ferguson said. All lanes were blocked while the negotiation was carried out.
Officers were able to calm the person and take him into custody around 2:10 p.m.
All lanes reopened a short time later, Ferguson said.
