18-Year-Old Arrested In San Francisco Park Kidnapping, Rape
SAN FRANCISCO (CBS SF) - Hours after releasing the sketch of a man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman Friday in a Crocker Amazon neighborhood park, police arrested a suspect Tuesday night, a police spokesman said.
Xavier Neal, 18, of San Francisco, was taken into custody and is being held on suspicion of kidnapping and rape, Officer Albie Esparza said.
The female victim was jogging in Crocker Amazon Park at about 4:30 p.m. Friday near the basketball court, police said, when an unknown male suspect grabbed her from behind.
The man allegedly forced her into a grassy area, where he sexually assaulted her, police said. During the assault, the victim might have scratched the suspect's right forearm.
After the attack, the man fled on foot toward Brookdale Avenue in the direction of a public housing development, police said.
