18-Year-Old Arrested In Bay Point Shooting
BAY POINT (CBS SF) - An 18-year-old Pittsburg man was arrested early Monday morning in connection with a shooting in Bay Point on Sunday night, Contra Costa County sheriff's spokesman Jimmy Lee said Tuesday.
The sheriff's office received a report at about 8:30 p.m. Sunday of a shooting in the 500 block of Bradford Street, Lee said.
When deputies arrived, they found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek and is expected to survive, Lee said.
A 17-year-old boy was also shot at, but wasn't hit, Lee said.
Detectives quickly identified Alejandro Hipolito as a suspect in the shooting.
Sheriff's deputies, with help from Pittsburg police officers, went to Hipolito's home in the 100 block of Arlington Drive in Pittsburg at about 1 a.m. Monday and arrested him, Lee said.
Hipolito has been booked into county jail on suspicion of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon, Lee said. His bail has been set at $550,000.
Investigators were still working to determine a motive for the shooting Tuesday.
