17-Year-Old Fatally Stabbed In Newark
NEWARK (BCN) -- A 17-year-old boy was fatally stabbed in Newark Wednesday afternoon, a police commander said.
Officers responded around 3:40 p.m. to Cedar Boulevard at Birch Street on reports of a man lying on the ground bleeding, Newark police Cmdr. Bob Douglas said.
Upon arrival, police found the boy suffering from apparent stab wounds, and he was pronounced dead at the scene, Douglas said.
His identity is not being released due to his age.
Two men in black clothes, including hooded sweatshirts, were seen running from the area, Douglas said, but police did not have any suspect leads as of Wednesday evening.
Union City and Fremont police helped cordon off the area and search for witness and suspect information, Douglas said.
Anyone with information about the stabbing is asked to call Detective Sgt. Mike Carroll at (510) 578-4247 or the anonymous witness hotline at (510) 578-4000, ext. 500.
