1 Seriously Injured After San Mateo Bridge Crash

SAN MATEO (CBS SF) - All lanes reopened on the San Mateo Bridge Wednesday morning after a three-car injury crash clogged eastbound traffic, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The collision was reported around 7:20 a.m. on eastbound state Highway 92 just east of the high rise.

CHP Officer Art Montiel said a Redwood City man in his early 20s was driving a Toyota Corolla that stalled in a right lane on the bridge.

A BMW station wagon driving behind him rear-ended the Toyota and was then rear-ended itself by a silver sedan, Montiel said.

The driver of the Toyota suffered moderate to major injuries that are not considered life-threatening, the officer said.

He was taken by ambulance to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley.

The crash backed up traffic to U.S. Highway 101.
