20-Year Old Killed In Hayward Shooting
HAYWARD (CBS SF) -- A 20-year-old man was killed in a shooting in unincorporated Hayward on Monday night, a sheriff's spokesman said.
Deputies responded to the 400 block of Bartlett Avenue, near Interstate Highway 880, at about 9:30 p.m. after receiving a report that a man had been shot, Alameda County sheriff's spokesman J.D. Nelson said.
They found the victim, whose name has not yet been released, outside in that block, Nelson said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe the shooter and victim knew each other, Nelson said.
There were initial reports that the incident was a drive-by shooting, but investigators now believe that was not the case, Nelson said.
He said there was a group of people hanging out together on that block just before the shooting occurred.
No arrests have been made in the case, and investigators were working to determine the motive, Nelson said.
