1 Hospitalized After Morning Road Rage Shooting In East San Jose
SAN JOSE (CBS SF) - Police were searching Tuesday afternoon for a gunman who shot a man in a road rage incident during broad daylight in East San Jose.
Police told KPIX 5 that one man was shot and injured near Senter Road and Baltic Way at 10:22 a.m.
A large police response blocked off streets in the area, but as of noon, no suspect had been located.
According to San Jose Police Dept. Lt. Paul Messier, a vehicle heading southbound on Senter Road, south of Tully Rd., was driving in the slow lane when a second vehicle pulled out from the Coyote Creek mobile home park and made a left turn toward the victim.
There was a near collision from the left turn and both vehicles then came to a stop. The victim got out of his car and exchanged words with the suspects, according to Messier.
The passenger in the suspect vehicle then opened fire towards the victim with a handgun. The victim was struck more than once and was transported to a nearby hospital. Messier said the victim is in serious condition.
Messier said the suspects fled southbound on Senter Rd. in a newer silver-colored Jetta.
Several witnesses, including pedestrians, are cooperating with police in their investigation by providing information in their search for those suspects.
