Suspect Arrested In Shooting That Caused 580 Shutdown
OAKLAND (CBS SF) - Police have made an arrest in connection with a robbery and shooting in Oakland that led to the closure of westbound Interstate Highway 580 for more than two hours Thursday, a police spokeswoman said.

Oakland police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said Friday morning that an arrest had been made in the case, but did not release more information about the suspect.
A woman was shot during a robbery in the 4000 block of MacArthur Boulevard around 2 p.m. Thursday, police said.
The suspect then fled in a car toward 35th Avenue and crashed on the on-ramp to westbound Highway 580, where witnesses reported seeing him running away from the accident, according to police.A search of the highway for the suspect prompted the California Highway Patrol to shut down all westbound lanes in the area from shortly after 3 p.m. until about 5:15 p.m., when the highway was reopened although the suspect had not been found.

The victim in the shooting was taken to a hospital. Her condition was not immediately available Friday morning.
