Firefighters stop forward progress of Cable Fire in El Dorado County near Pollock Pines

EL DORADO COUNTY -- A fire in the Sierra burned at least 21 acres in El Dorado County Tuesday afternoon before firefighters were able to get a handle on it.

The Cal Fire Amador-El Dorado Unit initially reported at 4:40 p.m. a vegetation fire in the area Cable Road and Badger Hill Road, about five miles west of Pollock Pines and north of U.S. Highway 50.

The Cable Fire prompted a number of evacuations Tuesday evening, and firefighters were working through the night strengthening control lines and mopping up hot spots.

 

Cable Fire 5 percent contained, evacution orders issued

At 7 p.m. Tuesday, CalFire said the so-called Cable Fire burning in El Dorado County was 5 percent contained and crews were making "good progress."

Evacuation orders were in place for Badger Hill Road, Old Blair Mill Road, and Mace Mot Hill Road and road closures were in place.

Fire crews would remain throughout the night, "strengthening control lines and mopping up hot spots," CalFire said.

 

Cal Fire: Cable Fire burns 21 acres

Cal Fire said as of 6 p.m. Tuesday, the Cable Fire burning in El Dorado County near Pollock Pines had burned at least 21 acres and was five percent contained.

 

Air crews battle Cable Fire, holding at 10 acres

The U.S. Forest Service said Tuesday its resources were helping Cal Fire battle the Cable Fire burning in El Dorado County west of Pollock Pines.

The Eldorado National Forest Twitter account said its crews were in the community of Camino off White Mountain Ranch Road.

The fire appeared to be holding at about 10 acres according to local reports and the Watch Duty website.

 

Cable Fire now burning timber in western Sierra Nevada

As of 5 p.m., Cal Fire said the Cable Fire was burning timber with five to seven acres burned at a rapid rate.

People were urged to stay away from the area to allow for resource access.
