The 49ers had two big holes to fill this offseason, with the departure of Dashon Goldson and the release of David Akers. It would be impossible to have any sustained success with question marks at both positions, but after the Week 1 performances of Phil Dawson and Eric Reid, it appears that the 49ers have found a short-term replacement for Akers, and long-term answer for Goldson.
The NFL's best, and newest rivalry will be renewed Sunday Night when the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks meet at Century Link Field. The NFC West foes will look to make a statement at the others expense, in what is arguably a battle of the NFL's two best teams.
