The Honorees: Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, Sacramento City Councilmember Bonnie Pannell and Vice President & General Manager of Enterprise Holdings in Sacramento Susan Irwin. 100% of the proceeds raised by the Unity Ball support programs that serve to help bridge the divide between the people who have homes, secure jobs, savings and retirement and the people who have only some or worse yet, none of those
The Sacramento Black Chamber of Commerce Foundation graduated its fifth cohort of students from its Young Entrepreneur Academy on June 26, 2014 at U.C. Davis in their Alumni Center. Sixteen of the eighteen students accepted in this year's program graduated from the program and nine of those sixteen were awarded for perfect attendance. Sponsors were also recognized and given a certificate of appreciation. The program runs from October to June each year with students from local high schools and colleges. The students range in age from 16 to 22 years in age.
The Chevo Foundation hosted their 3nd annual golf tournament at Catta Verdera Country Club and Lincoln Hills Golf Course on June 23rd. The Chevo Foundation mission is to raise resources for Parkinson's research, support and education. All of the proceeds will be used to help raise awareness and resources for Parkinson's research and education for those directly and indirectly affected by the disease, and awareness of those not yet diagnosed.

The ALS Association of Greater Sacramento Chapter held there Signature Summer Soiree at Arden Hills Country Club on June 20th. The largest fundraiser of the year, themed dinner gala transported guests to a magical place "Beyond Wonderland" . The Greater Sacramento Chapter of the ALS Association was founded in September 1987 with the hope of providing an opportunity for ALS patients and their families to come together, share concerns & information, and build awareness in the Sacramento Community.
Sacramento councilmember-elect Rick Jennings and CEO of the Center for Fathers and Families honored Sacramento's 2014 Fathers of the Year at the Salute to Fatherhood Banquet on June 18. Honorees included Supervisor Jimmie Yee, Dimitrius Stone, James Beckwith, Russell Lowery, and Alec Poe. Winners were selected through a community nomination process. Event proceeds will benefit the Center's after school programs that serve over 1,700 local youth every school day.

United Way's 6th Annual Toilet Paper Drive held at Cal Expo on June12th, helped offset the cost of this necessary staple that costs local nonprofits thousands of dollars each year. United Way collected 161,058 rolls of toilet paper from the community – the equivalent of more than $161,000 that nonprofits can use toward life-changing services. The Toilet paper is distributed the following week to United Way's 160+certified nonprofit partners in Amador, El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento and Yolo Counties.
