Sacramento Hosts Public Art Project in Response to Orlando Attack, Saturday, June 18

The Sacramento LGBT Community Center, Latino Center of Art and Culture, Team Darrell Steinberg, The California Endowment , Councilmember Steve Hansen, Congressman Ami Bera, Tony "The Tiger" Lopez, community leaders and members of the general public lead a public art project as a symbol of solidarity with the LGBTQ community on June 18th at the LGBT Community Center parking lot. The art project allowed the community to repurpose their campaign yard signs from the recent California primary election by painting over them with the message "Pride over Prejudice." Newly designed signs created in response to the attack in Orlando will also be available for the public, including a "Pride over Prejudice" rainbow sign copy The intended outcome of this event was to turn all regional businesses, community gathering spaces and neighborhoods into very public and visual displays of Sacramento's support for "Pride over Prejudice."

Eskaton Foundation's first annual Celebration of CEOson June 14 was unique in every way. With over 200 CEOs and Executive Level individuals representing over 100 companies present, the evening provided high-level networking like no other in the region. Make-A-Wish Reception

President of the Sacramento Kings Chris Granger and wife Jennifer Granger opened up their home to more than 150 guests Saturday night, along with co-hosts Raley's Michael and Julie Teel, to share information about Make-A-Wish and the impact a wish makes for a child battling a life-threatening illness. The guests heard from local wish recipient, Zander, 11 who had his wish granted to meet an astronomer and then invited to donate in support of additional local wishes. Make-A-Wish Northeastern California and Northern Nevada is one of the earliest chapters and began in 1983. The chapter grants 250 wishes each year to children with life-threatening medical conditions.

The Annual Salvation Army Community Luncheon

The Salvation Army held its 25th Annual Community Luncheon on May 31st at the Red Lion Hotel. The event was an opportunity to showcase its programs, give a fiscal and service report to the community, and thank and recognize the individuals and companies who, through their community service activities or programs, have shown a long history of helping people in need. The Salvation Army honored Wells Fargo with the Spirit of Caring award for its extensive community service work and philanthropy. This year's luncheon grossed nearly $217,000 in proceeds to support local Salvation Army programs and services year-round.
