OLIVEHURST — A Yuba County man was sentenced to six years in state prison for multiple felonies, including domestic violence and trying to get nude photos from a 10-year-old child, prosecutors said Monday.

Christopher Ryan Brown, 33, of Olivehurst, committed the crimes in 2022 and 2023, the Yuba County District Attorney's Office said.

In November 2022, Brown pleaded no contest to felony domestic violence and was sent to a drug rehab program while awaiting sentencing. The following March, Brown was kicked out of the program and failed to make his court appearance.

While sought by law enforcement, Brown attempted to have a young girl, 10, send him nude photos and asked her for sex, prosecutors said.

Brown followed the child's Instagram account, which her parents monitored. The child's mother, posing as the child, sent Brown a message that said, "Hi." Prosecutors said Brown, believing he was communicating with the child, then asked her for sex and the illicit photos.

The child's mother reported this to law enforcement officials, who then tried arresting Brown at his home on August 11, 2023. Brown was naked when investigators arrived and jumped out a back window, leading a short chase through alleys and backyards before he was arrested, prosecutors said.

Brown has remained in custody since. In October 2024, he was convicted of attempting to solicit child pornography and for his previous failure to appear in court.

"I want every parent to understand how Brown used social media to try and solicit sex and nude photos from a child," Yuba County District Attorney Clint Curry said in the announcement of Brown's sentencing.  "Please keep tabs on any social media apps you let your children use. Men like Brown are out there and we need to remain vigilant."
