Deputies: No Bomb Found After Threat Called Into Linda Walmart
LINDA (CBS13) – The Yuba County Sheriff's Department evacuated a Linda Walmart Supercenter after someone allegedly called in a bomb threat Tuesday evening.
Officials say the Walmart, located at 1131 N. Beale Road, received the call around 4:30 p.m.
"Part of it was the bomb could be inside the store or outside in the parking lot," Yuba County sheriff's Capt. Ron Johnson said. "It's a matter of public safety, hence the resources we brought here."
Bomb-sniffing dogs were brought in from nearby Beale Air Force Base to first clear the parking lot and then the store itself.
Jonathan Pinegar says he was shopping in the meat department with his little girl when the abrupt evacuation announcement was made.
"I saw them coming in Code 3 lights and sirens. So that kind of made me nervous but I was already out," said Pinegar.
It was a potentially dangerous situation that ended up as a major hassle. After three hours, deputies said no bomb was found inside or out.
So employees got the all-clear and paraded back to the store, ready to go back to work.
The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is now looking into who called in the bomb threat that turned out to be a hoax.
The store reopened for business around 9 p.m.
