Yuba City Mystery: Man Found Bloodied, Naked On Front Porch
YUBA CITY (CBS13) - Mystery surrounds the discovery of a man found naked, bruised and battered on the front porch of a home in Yuba City.
The man was still at Rideout Memorial Hospital on life support Friday. Sutter County deputies are not giving out much information as to what led him to be found bloodied and nude on a stranger's porch almost a week agao.
"He didn't deserve what happened to him," Charles Ford said. "I mean, it's devastating to us."
But exactly what happened to Ford's friend and why is still unclear.
Ford's friend, only identified to CBS13 by others as "Vincent," was found bloodied and naked on the doorstep of a Yuba City home to which he had no known connection.
"They try to wake him up take him off life support, but he can't breathe on his own," Ford said.
Ford, the head of Ellis Lake Volunteers, says his friend was a constant volunteer at the Marysville lake but had recently become homeless and was living in his truck.
"He's a nice guy, he works hard, he's out at the lake every day," he said.
Jessica Barkey is the one who discovered the man on her porch in the 1500 block of Redding Avenue, but she quickly ran away to call police.
"It was just a disaster and blood everywhere," she said.
She says at the same time, someone, possibly the victim, broke her windows.
"All along on the side of the house," she said. "There's not one window that's not broke."
But why again is a mystery.
"I've never seen anything like that in my life ever before," she said.
She says a trail of blood was found coming from up the street, and Ford says Vincent's truck was found burglarized not far away.
It's a mystery with so many questions, and now prayers for a man in the ICU.
"I hope he pulls through, comes out of it," Ford said. "If anybody knows anything, I wish they'd come forward."
His friend says the man has not been able to talk to investigators. Of course if he wakes up and could provide more information, it could crack the case wide open.
