Yuba City Man Reportedly Kidnapped, Forced To Withdraw Money For Abductors
YUBA CITY (CBS13) -- A 71-year-old Yuba City man was kidnapped, blindfolded and then taken to two banks and told to withdraw money, according to police.
The incident happened on Monday when the man said he was walking to the Raley's store on Onstott and Bridge streets in Yuba City when he was approached by two Hispanic men near the store entrance. The suspects reportedly grabbed the victim by his arms and walked him to a light brown, four-door car. A third suspect was in the driver's seat with a handgun tucked into his pants, police said.
According to police, the victim's wallet was taken and he was then blindfolded. He was told, in Spanish, that he was being taken to a bank. He was driven to the Chase Bank on Harter Parkway in Yuba City where he was told to go in and take money out of his account, police said.
He reportedly was threatened that if he called the police he would be killed. The victim returned with cash and got back into the car. He was then blindfolded again and driven to another Chase Bank on Colusa Avenue in Yuba City. This time the driver went with the victim inside the bank where another withdrawal was made, police said.
The suspects reportedly blindfolded the victim again and drove him to a field near Simpson Lane in Marysville and told him to get out of the car. He then walked back to his residence in Yuba City and called police.
The suspects in this case were all described as Hispanic men in their 30s or 40s. Anyone with information is asked to call the Yuba City Police Department at (530) 822-4660.
