Wrong-Way Driver Causes Major Hwy 99 Accident

CERES, Calif. (CBS13) – Northbound Highway 99 was closed for nearly an hour Saturday after a driver careened into oncoming traffic, causing a serious accident.

Police said a driver in her 20s veered out of the southbound lanes and slammed head-on into another vehicle, sparking additional collisions between at least two other vehicles.

A passenger was critically wounded and several other people were rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The driver suffered minor injuries. Investigators said alcohol did not appear to play a role in the crash.

Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident.
