Woodland Teen Shot Outside Diner
WOODLAND (CBS13) - Police are investigating a possible gang shooting in Woodland on Wednesday night that sent an 18-year-old teen to the hospital.
Police responded to the 600 block of Cottonwood Street near Don's Diner at 8:19 p.m. where they discovered the teen lying in the street. He was shot once in the abdomen area. Police did not release his name, citing the ongoing investigation. He was taken to UC Davis Medical Center and his condition wasn't known.
The diner was closed at the time of the shooting, but a few employees were still inside working. When the shooting occurred, some rounds pierced the diner's window. None of the employees inside the restaurant were injured, but the diner did sustain some damage.
Witnesses in the area described seeing a white Ford Mustang, mid-1990s or early 2000s, in the area during the time of the shooting. It's not known if the suspect or suspects left in that car but police are looking for it.
The Woodland Police Department and the Yolo County Gang Task Force are investigating the shooting because of the possible gang associations.
