Series Of Armed Robberies In Two Counties May Be Connected
WOODLAND (CBS13) – A series of armed robberies in two counties all within hours of each other may be connected, according to law enforcement.
The first robbery took place in Woodland when four men armed with handguns robbed the Umpqua Bank on the 200 block of Main Street just after 10:00 this morning. They were last seen leaving the area in a vehicle similar to a White Honda Odyssey.
A little while later, a check cashing business on the 900 block of Jefferson Boulevard in West Sacramento was hit. West Sacramento police say an armed man robbed the Advance America Check Cashing store. He was wearing dark clothing.
Then just before noon, a Check-N-Go store on the Alta Arden Expressway in Sacramento was robbed. The suspect was described as a black man with a silver handgun wearing a black baseball cap.
Both Woodland Police and the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department say they believe the robberies may be connected with similar suspect descriptions. However, the West Sacramento Police department is unsure of any connection.
