Woman Shot In The Neck While Driving On Highway 99
STOCKTON (CBS13) - A woman was shot in the neck while driving on Highway 99 near Morada Lane on Monday night.
The 29-year-old victim was driving a 2002 Dodge Caravan on northbound Highway 99 at 9:38 p.m. when someone unknown to the victim in another vehicle fired two rounds from a small-caliber gun into the left side of the van, hitting her once in the neck, says CHP Ofc. James Smith.
The woman immediately pulled over to the side of the road and called 911. CHP officers quickly arrived and secured the scene and treated the woman's injuries. She was taken to the hospital by paramedics and is expected to recover.
Officers closed northbound Highway 99 for about two hours for the investigation. A small black car -- possibly as a Mitsubishi Eclipse -- was seen in the area at the time of the shooting.
