UPDATE: Man Arrested For Shooting Wife To Death In North Highlands Apartment
NORTH HIGHLANDS (CBS13) – A woman was murdered by her husband in their North Highlands apartment Thursday afternoon, according to authorities.
The Sacramento County Sheriff's Department said a male suspect shot his wife, 46-year-old Margaret Weddle, several times in an apartment on the 3600 block of Bellinger Court at around 4 p.m. Thursday. The suspect was identified Friday as Daniel Weddle, 48.
Another woman who was inside the apartment witnessed the incident but was not harmed, authorities said.
Weddle left the scene immediately after the shooting and was arrested near a relative's home in Rio Linda a short time later, deputies said. He surrendered without incident and investigators recovered a gun they believe was used in the murder.
Authorities have not released a motive for the incident. The identity of the victim was not released.
Weddle was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail and is being held without bail.
